When you donate with M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Blood Bank please write in NOTRE DAME CLUB OF HOUSTON in the Beneficiary box of the Donor History Questionnaire and your Donor Club will receive credits that can be used to provide coverage to any person that the group wants to cover when the need arises. The persons that are covered do not need to be a member of the group. The donor members of this group cannot claim individual coverage. The Donor Club administrator (Martha Skender) determines who receives credits. The number of credits that can be issued equals the number of units donated to that donor club account.
Who is Covered?
A blood or platelet donation covers:
1. Any individual, or individuals, designated by the group's Donor Club Administrator. (Partial coverage).
What is Covered?
Within the Houston Metro area, the M. D. Anderson Blood Bank issues credits for service fees based on the transfusing institution's policies and criteria for the acceptance of such credits. Beneficiaries of the group receive partial coverage. Coverage extends without a waiting period or exclusions due to preexisting conditions, so credits can be issued immediately.
Outside the Houston Metro area, coverage extends to any hospital belonging to the National Blood Exchange of the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and which accepts blood service fee credits.
Additional Information
The Donor Club coverage is effective immediately upon completion of the blood drive or the depositing of blood credits into the Donor Club Account. Credits expire one year from the date of donation.
